That was an interesting and active thread, although it kind of degenerated into a dog-fight. Maybe the Politics sub-forum could be expanded to:

Politics and Religion - all hope abandon ye who enter here!

Don't open that!! It's the original can of worms!

I agree. This excellent Forum is probably better with such than without. As long as the poster or viewer understands what he or she is getting into ... go for it. HB of CJ (old coot)

Maybe we can have four (4) new areas. Religion, Politics, Death and Taxes. Sounds good to me. My apology. I did not intend for Duckkee to KILL or FREEZE the "God Exists" thread.

Both sides were too entrenched in their views, I personally thought the threat was no longer entertaining nor informative. ;)

I didn't think it had become that scary...

Not scary, just... well, like watching two deaf persons shouting at each other. Which, under the right circumstances, could be funny, but here, it was just sad.

Agreed. However, being the pessimistic fellow I am, I predict that any new Religion thread will eventually degenerate into the same as the old thread.

Even as an active participant, I agree. Too much posting past each other and a tendency to take comments out of context.

Yet, those sorts of issues also make other discussions less enjoyable.

Any time you attempt to debate a subject in which one side declares their position is held through personal faith there's not really anywhere else for it to go. So either you accept that's where things will head and you have the conversations for the benefit of onlookers or you never talk about it at all really.

Truth time; I was one of those who sent Duckk a PM, mentioning the thread and letting him know it was getting close to being out-of-hand. This was at least 3-4 days before he finally shut it down.

Main reason I did it was because the argument(s) had begun to turn very personal rather than professional (as most arguments regarding religion do) and I was getting worried that some members would burn too many bridges and/or get themselves banned.

And I might have been right; has anyone seen cthia since the thread got closed?
