This is the only comment I'll make on the topic, because this is David Weber's site and it would be extremely rude of me to do more... I'm only saying it because I'm pretty sure that there will be a bunch of people here who understand my glee.

I just finished writing my first full-length sci-fi book! Yay! I feel quite pleased with myself. And by "finished" I mean wrote, read, re-wrote, left it on the side for a while, got a load of feedback, made modifications, added bits, edited and am now getting a last round of feedback from less friendly sources before the probably vain hunt to try to find an agent. :)

Congrats. It takes quite a bit of skill to be a proper writer.

I know. I've tried and... well, whenever I write more than 50 pages, my own limited abilities tend to desert me.

So once again, congratulations.

Congratulations!

I want to read it, I mean how can I not want to read it? Its Sci-Fi!

I don't have the focus to write a full book, and probably never will.

But good luck with your hunt for an agent. Hope it all turns out alright.

Congrats Peter!!!

I've been working on a novel for quite a while myself; lost an important portion when my old hard drive died (hadn't backed up to my external hard drive recently enough), and have since been fighting some serious writer's block about a significant point. But I'll work through it, and I know where I want to go with it once I get past my block point.

Good luck!!

You may be a natural for short story writing, which is an art unto itself. Stick with it, even if no one else ever sees it. Writing feeds the soul.

Dont forget, there are other options for publishing.
Like this one for selfpublishing:

Good luck and well done.

It's written, not published - yet. That takes time. :)

But that's all I'd like to say on the topic. Actually, that's not true, I'd like to enthuse over the effort, how and why I started, background, characters, storyline, etc etc etc, but this is David's site. I really, really do not want to come across as being so rude as to do shameless self-promotion on his site. I just wanted to share a moment of joy in getting 100K+ words written and a story completed, with a bunch of people I think would understand that moment with a grin of their own.
