Apparently my dementia hasn't allowed me to remember what is meant by the Sepoy Option. Could one of the experts refresh my memory.

I'm currently rereading "TORCH of FREEDOM", and it's frequently referenced.

Sincere thanks.

These may be of some use:
Sepoy
Indian Rebellion of 1857

Sepoy Option is Barregos' long-standing plan to rule anything he can get his mitts on. Currently he is the OFS Governor of the Maya Sector.

Duckk says: SPOILERS, highlight to view

It was a very effective code. The Sollies were basically taken by surprise. The only thing that sort of ruined the whole surprise was the actions of MAlign who sent in a false flag Manticoran representative.

As we've discussed on other discussions, using misleading code words is far better than politicized ones.

In fact it's a very poor code as it reveals the basic nature of the operation instantly to anyone who knows the right history. They are just betting there aren't that many history geeks around. Now I'm assuming they won their bet (no more spoilers please!) But that doesn't mean it wasn't an unnecessary danger.

TFLYTSNBN

Spoiler Alert????????

A more accurate analogy would be the local officials of the East India company along with British Navy officers revolting against the British Empire to create their own fiefdom.

Maybe, but this way if any solly happened across the codeword and deigned to open a history book, they'd see 'oh, things are about to get restless in Maya.'

at which point they a) go back to sleep, b) tell the sector governor that the natives are getting restless, c) dispatch additional frontier fleet ships in which case...

A) nothing happens.
B) the governor is in on it so nothing happens.
C) The local commander-in-space is also in on it so nothing happens except he now has additional toys to play with when it's time to drop the pretense.

Well, you're correct unless the above solly happens to realize that the governor in question was born on a Verge world and just might be a sepoy himself.
