Last I heard RFC doesn't like fanfiction.

And he doesn't visit the sites. Doesn't stop fans from posting their own.

Back to the treecats...

Now that they have two-way communications with humans, I expect to see the implementation of Clan-Houses, giant greenhouses which double as a safe space for treekittens, shelter against the weather and a place where they can grow things like celery, purple-thorn etc. With re-purposed cupboards under the growing tables to act as dens and filters turning rainwater and/or groundwater into drinkable water (by two-leg standards...), there will be a large population increase for any clan which invests in them.
Add solar panels along the ridge-lines to power comm systems connected to the Sphinxian Ranger Services and courses in medical first-aid (to stabilize any mortally wounded treecats until a human medic with full med-kit can arrive) and the clans will be looking forwards to a golden era.

Eventually, the new generation of treekittens will grow up with enough 'cat/human interaction that they may understand the written word. As such, treecat legends may be transcribed to the written format for two-legs to read and we may even get treecat fiction writers.
Hopefully they won't write slash-fics...

On Sphinx? I tend to doubt it.
Maybe some middle scale for celery.

On other planets however I can picture city sized domes as nature reserves for tree cats.

Somewhere that native Sphinx flaura and fauna can go, without danger of infesting other biomes, or being infested themselves.

Hell, maybe even space stations.

This is where I picture Honor, and others, setting up a Treecat foundation for setting up and maintaining such domes, and for managing Treecats working for human society.

First some good points and great ideas posted. Whatever
form the final resolution it takes I suspect it will be
gradual and be GA or at least federation wide.
The need for colonies on various world to protect
treecats as whole will probably be the first priority.

Taking the long historical view it may seem gradual. But it will be more fits and starts. The song singers muddle around for a bit mulling what they want and how to do it, then the entire population springs to action implementing it.

Wasn't Grayson already first? Seems there are some at the protector's palace and Harrington Steading. And Harrington is already leading the way building bio-does, eh.

See Changer Of Worlds in the anthology of the same name. The reasons Samantha and Nimitz chose to take their children (and nannies) to Grayson is explained in detail.

The colony on Gryphon is only mentioned in passing, and the "colony" at Jason Bay is less formalized.

Actually there's a colony at White Haven lead by "retired" Bright Water elder Bark Master and his mate. Who are currently employed as nannies to Rouel and Katherine.

Besides Bay House, don't be surprised that the Royal Gardens around Mount Royal Palace have a treecat colony or two hanging about to keep an eye on MRP PM and Parliament.
