The Nike is noted to be an awesome ship but lacking in several key areas. First being low Missile tube count for the Mk16 missiles. Second the Lack of Spacing for the Armour. Third the Keyhole I instead of the Keyhole II.

The Nike II may be better served to use a design notion like the DD Modern or Older designs that are much wider than tall. Doing this with the Current Nike, perhaps going from 129 metres wide to 177 to 200 Metres wide would solve the spacing problems and allow for more ammunition space to upgrade to Apollo sized Missiles and Keyhole II. This would be a 3.5 to 4 Mega Ton Ship.

25 Apollo Missile tubes per broadside and allow for offbore salvo's of 50 which is the non Apollo limits of the Keyhole II control links. Extra spacing for the Armour if not even more Armour and Extra Missile storage space. Plus additional Shuttle space, on the lower side and more Marine space, internally.

Apollo tubes that are capable of firing more powerful pen aides with greater warheads and to be individually controlled by FTL for even greater capability. Maintaining a Full FTL non lag range of 75-100+ million KM.

This would allow for a BCL or small DR sized ship non Pod based and capable of capturing ships, worlds and when towing large numbers of pods (120)full 10 Missile MK23 pods are able to launch Pod level initial and follow up salvo's. One, two or Three Salvo's of 400 missiles plus 50 Apollo.

With SD(P) level armour and range. With Large Troop capacity and extended duration operational capabilities. Better accelerations than SD(P) and able to fire an current and near future missiles. With Magazine feeds made to allow smaller missiles to be used. Able to operate alone or in the wall and give better than old school SD capabilities.

The Nike II would do anything the Nike BCL can do and everything it can't.

36 Nike II would give say Beowulf the capabilities of all of Filireta's 400+ Sollie SD's at 10 times the range. 36 Nike II would be able to control 16,200 Missile Salvo's a full 3 of them towed about the same as Filireta's entire Pod missile load. Then follow it up with 1800 Apollo sized attack missiles if needed.

With a Broadsword Marine operations support cruiser compliment and Mk17 or newer Shuttle numbering enough for a full deployment in a single drop.

Solves all sort of problems and future proofs the design.

Battlecruisers are not wallers. They are not meant to fight in the wall. Haven's had battleships, the IAN has had a fast DN wing. Haven at least has abandoned the BB and the DN; I suspect the IAN has abandoned the fast DN.

BC's in the RMN at least are meant to raid systems and beat cruisers. They are not meant to need any of what you're trying to give them - or to have reason to PAY for it.

Surely a next generation of BC will make improvements on Nike. Eventually, Keyhole II on a BC will happen. I doubt it will happen this soon. "Keyhole I.V" may put in an appearance: an improved Keyhole I or a stripped down Keyhole II. (Keyhole II can tolerate a lot of stripping down.) The RMN may even consider smaller such platforms but more of them per unit, like the SLN's Halo (just, you know, better all over).

They're not going to consider a non-pod battleship for the wall.

And by the time you've added all that, your 2.5 MT BC is now a 5 MT DN - which virtually all modern navies have ejected from their order of battle. Not that pointing this out is going to stop you from engaging in necrotic equine abuse about it.

In fighting the SLN, the RMN already has a perfectly adequate supply of DDs to do everything needed. IIRC, we have yet to see the RMN launch a volley at the SLON and say afterward "gee, we should have stacked a couple more missiles in that".

First question why? We don't need bigger cruisers? Nike is near the size of BB and bigger ship is easier to spot and have few others disadvantages. It's designed to hit and run attacks, convoy protection, long time deployment, convoy raiding.
So it doesn't need sledgehammer to destroy DD, DDM are ideal for her and armor isn't needed, Keyhole II isn't very upgrade over I. Could anybody quote HoS about Nike's armor?
