Because roseandheather and I are both fans of Disney and Honor, I decided the time of our giant super Disney Honorverse song thread has come!! LET OUR MADNESS BEGIN!!!

A Dame worth fighting for!

[Candless:]
You've a brand-new charge to keep away from harms, men!
Join with me, and sing a song that's fit for Armsmen!
Though her gender's new, the foes we view are the same you've faced before...
What have we got? A Dame worth fighting for!

She's served all Grayson gall-ant-ly, stuck with us through thick and thin;
And she's made enemies as well -- so that's where we come in;
You may work hard, on long deployment...
But no need to fear your unemployment!

[1, pulling up sleeve:] Do you see this scar? I stopped a dart once!
[2:] Nifty!
[3:] Yeah, I threw that dart, and it would've scored a fifty! [1 turns bright red]
[Candless:] You can drop that thought; I don't give squat for what you've done before!
What have we got? A Dame worth fighting for!

Our job's to always watch her back, and never, ever break that rule,
Except of course, when she's swum laps, and she's climbing from the pool... [he pulls at his collar]
[2:] That sounds a bit risque, by gosh! It --
[Candless:] You knob! I said to watch, not WASH it!
[1:] Oh!
[2:] *disappointed sigh*
[Candless:] Grrr...

When you see that strong-boned face with eyes a-glowing...
[2, to 3:] So she's got strong bones? She drank her milk when growing...
[3 smacks him one]
[Candless:] Moves like her 'cat, but you can't let that distract you from your chore --
What have we got? A Dame worth fighting for!

Don't let her gender sway your mind -- just watch her practise, sword a-blurred;
And you can always watch that tape, if you don't want to take my word...
No arms but martial ones enfold her --
[3:] Do you think I could, in their stead, hold her?
[Candless:] No!
Sit!
GUARD!

You've a gem to guard that's fit for any jeweller!
And I've got my doubts about Burdette and Mueller!
Take it day by day; there's just no way of knowing what's in store...
What have we got? A Dame worth fighting for!

"Go the Distance"

[Augustus Khumalo]
I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying; Talbott's where I'm meant to be

I got there some way, yes I can go the distance
Somehow I found my way, because I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile was well worth my while
I have gone the distance, now I'm right where I belong

Down an unknown road, to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it led me to you
And a thousand years, would be worth the wait
It might have been a lifetime, but somehow I saw it through

And I won't look back, now I've gone the distance
And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope, but I can't lose hope
Not now I've gone the distance, and my journey is complete

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart

Like a shooting star, I could go the distance
I will search the world, I will face its harms
I didn't care how far, somehow I went the distance
Somehow I found my hero's welcome waiting in your arms!

If I must search the world, I will face its harms
Now that I've found my hero's welcome waiting in your arms!
___

...I have actually been waiting my entire life to write this.

"God Help My Haven"

[Eloise Pritchart]
I don't know if You can hear me
Or if You're even there
I don't know if You would listen
To an Aprilist's prayer

[Warner Caslet]
Yes, I know I'm just an outcast
I shouldn't speak to You
Still, I see Your face and wonder...
Weren't You once an outcast too?

[Javier Giscard]
God help my Haven
Hungry and lost
Show them Your mercy
Not Your high cost

[Thomas Theisman]
God help my people
We look to You still
God help my Haven
Or nobody will...

[Legislaturalists]
I ask for wealth

[Cordelia Ransom]
I ask for fame

[Rob S. Pierre]
I ask for glory to shine on my name

[Oscar Saint-Just]
I ask for love I can possess
I ask for God and His angels to bless me

[Shannon Foraker]
I ask for nothing
I can get by
But I know so many
Less lucky than I

[Lester Tourville]
Please help my Haven
The poor and downtrod
I thought we all were
The children of God

[Alfredo Yu]
God help my Haven,
Children of God...
________

...wow. Okay. Of all the Disney songs I will rewrite for this 'verse, none - so help me, none - will be closer to my heart than this.

God help my Haven...

High Ridge
What can you expect
from filthy Havenite devils,
their so-called Republic is like a curse!

Their treaties aren't valid
they're only good when dead
they're vermin, as I said and worse!

Manticoran Officers
They're savages!
Savages!

High Ridge
Barely even human.

Manties
Savages! Savages!

High Ridge:
Drive them from Manticore!
They're not like you and me
which means they must be evil.
We must launch our fleet for war!

Manties
They're savages!
Savages!
Dirty StateSec devils!

High Ridge and Manties
Now we launch our fleet for war!

Eloise
This is what we feared
the Manties didn't trust us
the only thing they feel at all is greed.

Theisman
Beneath their words they hide
their hatred and their lies

Havenites:
I wonder if they even bleed.
They're savages!
Savages!

Eloise:
Barely even human.

Havenites:
Savages! Savages!

Eloise:
Killers at the core.

Theisman:
They're plotting and prepared
which means they can't be trusted.

Eloise
We must now return to war.

Peeps
They're savages!
Savages!
First we deal with Honor
then we must return to war.

Manties:
Savages! Savages!

High Ridge
Let's go get a few, men!

Peeps
Savages! Savages!

Eloise
Now it's up to you, men!

All:
Savages! Savages!
Barely even human!
Now we sound the drums of war!

Hellfire (Steadholder Burdette)

Burdette
Sweetest noblest Tester
You know I am a righteous man
Of my virtue I am justly proud

Priests:
(Et tibit Pater (And to you, Father))

Burdette:
Noble gracious Tester
You know I'm so much purer than
The common, vulgar, weak, heret'cal crowd

Priests:
(Quia peccavi nimis (That I have sinned))

Burdette:
Then tell me, Sweet Tester
Why I see her dancing there
Why her smold'ring eyes still scorch my soul

Priests:
(Cogitatione (In thought))

Burdette:
I feel her, I see her
The sun caught in her raven hair
Is blazing in me out of all control

Priests:
(Verbo et opere (In word and deed))

Burdette:
Like fire
Hellfire
This fire in my skin
This burning
Desire
Is turning me to sin

It's not my fault
(Mea culpa (Through my fault))
I'm not to blame
(Mea culpa (Through my fault))
It is the foreign girl
The Manty's blazing flames!
(Mea maxima culpa (Through my most griveous fault))
It's not my fault
(Mea culpa (Through my fault))
If in Your plan
(Mea culpa (Through my fault))
You made the devil so much
Stronger than a man
(Mea maxima culpa (Through my most griveous fault))
Protect me, sweet Tester
Don't let the siren cast her spell
Don't let her fire sear my flesh and bone
Destroy Honor Harrington
And let her taste the fires of Hell!
Or else let her be mine and mine alone!

(song pauses, guard knocks on the door)
Armsman: My Lord Burdette, Harrington has escaped.
Burdette: (speaking) What?
Armsman: She's nowhere near our Steading.
She's gone.

Burdette: But how? I... Never mind. Get out, you idiot! I'll find her! I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Grayson!

(song resumes) Hellfire
Dark fire
Now heathen, it's your turn
Choose me or
Your pyre
Be mine or you will burn
(Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy))
God have mercy on her
(Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy))
God have mercy on me
(Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy))
But she will be mine
Or she will burn!

I cried all the way through writing it. No joke.

Next up: Augustus and Estelle and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" (Unless it's "I See the Light" instead.)

I'm not the lyricist that you guys are...

...but I've always had the conviction that the Grayson National Anthem started off something like...

"O-o-o-oh My Grayson
where the TEST makes angels of us all..."

Young Honor:
The wonderful thing about treecats
Is treecats are wonderful things!
Their heads are all feline and furry,
Their tails have got cream and grey rings.
They're bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy
Fun fun fun fun fun!
The most wonderful thing about treecats is ---
--- I've been adopted by one!
Yes I've been adopted by one!

"Can You Feel the Love Tonight?"

[Augustus Khumalo]
There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless admiral just to be with you

[Augustus and Estelle]
And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make queens and vagabonds
Believe the very best

[Estelle Matsuko]
There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager
Beats in time with yours

[Augustus and Estelle]
And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make queens and vagabonds
Believe the very best
It's enough to make queens and vagabonds
Believe the very best...
____________

Obviously, this one didn't require much tweaking. Much to my relief, since this has been "their song" for as long as I have known them.
