This thread just blew my mind!

FROZEN is one of my guilty pleasures. I've listened to LET IT GO in every language I can find.

WANT TO BUILD A SNOWMAN still brings me to tears.

The parallels to HotQ are obvious, in hind sight.

Did anyone other than me notice that Queen Elsa's ice dress is translucent? Not as blatant as the car crash scene in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, but still amusing,

Thanks!! I was impressed by the film too, and when I'm reading HoTQ and watching frozen this stuff happens...

While my daughter was away for college this year, my guilty pleasure became watching MULAN until I discovered FROZEN.

More HTQ comparisons to Frozen:

Reginald Houseman would be like the Duke of Weselton, trying to exploit the situation to increase his own power, and foil Honor's attempts to do her job (just as Weselton sent his people to kill Elsa...

Or would the Maccabeans (SP) be closer, since they actually tried to assassinate the Protector and Honor...?

Sven and Nimitz... cute, fluffy, and a close companion to their people (and both can be stinkers at times...)

And even though she's not IN HTQ, i'm pretty sure our resident love expert (roseandheather) deserves some mentioning here... since she is good with all those pairings and knows who is a "fixer-upper..."

more HOTQ songs... (rose and I got a bit distracted, so I'm compensating...)

"The Honor of the Queen"
born of training, skill and war, into us all combining,
the Honor of Manticore's queen is defended with pride, men.
Defend her Honor, bold and true, fight for the kingdom, she defends you,
fight for victory,
and the Honor of the Queen!

(hup, ho, raise sidewalls, let it go! hup, ho, raise sidewalls, let it go!)

horrible, powerful, dangerous, bold!
War has a darkness can't be controlled!
stronger than one, stronger than ten, stronger than one-hundred men! (FIRE!)

born of training, skill and war, into us all combining,
the Honor of Manticore's queen is defended with pride, men.
Defend her Honor, bold and true, fight for the kingdom, she defends you,
fight for victory,
and the Honor of the Queen!

"do you wanna go to Yeltsin?"

Admiral Courvoisier:

Honor...

do you wanna go to Yeltsin?
there's a situation there.
The Graysons are in disarray, no time to waste,
The Queen's honor's at stake!
You were one of my finest, but now you're not,
come on Honor, tell me why!

Do you wanna go to Yeltsin?
The Navy needs you here in Yeltsin.

(I can't, Admiral...)

OK, bye...

McKeon (spoken): Don't think about Basilisk Station. Conceal it...
Honor (Spoken): don't feel it...
Both: don't let it show.

Courvoisier...
We really need you here in Yeltsin,
the situation's getting worse,
The damned Masadans are now up in arms,
We need you now, Honor,
the system's cursed!(hang in there, Protector!)
we're getting rather desperate, all the Fleet and I,
so please help us find our way!

Honor: (I'm feeling worse! I keep seeing the dead of Basilisk and...!)

McKeon: Thinking about this only makes it worse! Calm down!

Honor: I'm not ready for this...

Courvoisier:
Please, I know you're in there,
the Navy's asking where you've been,
We need you Honor, things are looking poor,
We're on the verge of war, please let me in!
You are one of my finest, I believe in you,
so why can't you please help me??

Do you wanna go to Yeltsin?

"Let It Go" (Honor's POV)

The stars shine bright over Yeltsin tonight,
not an SD to be seen,
I'm conducting negotiations, for the Honor of my Queen
Their harsh words slash me like the missile storm inside,
couldn't remain here, Heaven knows I've tried.

Don't let them in, don't let them see,
be the Captain you've always had to be,
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know...
Well now they know!!

Let it go! Let it go! can't hold it back anymore!
Let it go! Let it go! I'll succeed for Manticore!
I don't care, what the Graysons say!
Let my war rage on
The Peeps never bothered me anyway...

Oh it's funny how some distance, makes everything seem small,
and the insults of the Graysons can't get to me at all!
It's time to see what I can do,
to lo'wer my sidewalls and break through,
no pain, or loss, or death for me,
I'm free!

Let it go! Let it go! I am one with the stars tonight!
Let it go! let it go! for my Queen's honor I'll fight!
Here I stand, and Here I'll stay!
As the war goes on...

my Power flurries through the star-fields all around,
my cruiser's missiles fill the blackness that seems to abound,
and one thought vaporizes with a graser's blast,
I'm never going back, Basilisk's in the past!

Let it go! let it go! for the Queen I'll carry on!
Let it go! let it go! that Sphinxian girl is gone!
Here I'll stand, until victory!
Let the war rage on!
Politics never bothered me anyway.

I watched "Frozen" while reading The Honor of the Queen and I couldn't help but notice some similarities between Honor and Elsa(yes, I know I'm weird, don't ask.)

1. When Elsa runs off after revealing her powers, I instantly thought of Honor when she left Yeltsin in HH2. in both cases, something provoked the main character (Elsa/Honor) into frantically departing their responsibilities. Honor was provoked by the Grayson's inability to understand her "powers" of command and authority. This is similar to how Elsa's powers lead to her fleeing Arendelle because the character is ultimately misunderstood.

2. As a direct result of Honor/Elsa leaving, bad things happen. Both Honor and Elsa are unaware of the problems they have accidently caused, they are just glad to be free of the tensions in their lives. In addition, when someone tells them what has happened, the protagonists can't believe, and don't want to believe that they can do anything to reverse the situation. Elsa is too consumed by the fear of hurting Anna to even consider reversing the storm she created. Likewise, Honor is consumed by her own fear of the Grayson's response to a female CO and in her own mind believes that leaving and staying out of the way of a critical situation is best for everyone. when she is told of Admiral Courvoisier's death, she continues to believe that she is responsible and is reluctant to return to the system even after McKeon tries to convince her otherwise.

3. Both Honor and Elsa can get emotional and need little excuse to "let it go" (Houseman and HH...)

4. Honor likes cocoa. Elsa likes chocolate. 'nough said.

5. don't make either of them mad!!

The biggest difference, however, is that whatever Elsa touches freezes. Whatever Honor touches heats up. Honor's crews favorite line "It begittin hotup in herrr."

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Mmm, some drill instructor telling Abigail Hearne, "I'll make a man out of you!"?
----
Imagined conversation:
Admiral [noting yet another Manty tech surprise]:
XO, what's the budget for the ONI?
Vice Admiral: I don't recall exactly, sir. Several billion quatloos.
Admiral: ... What do you suppose they did with all that money?
