Hence the "interdict the planet" part of the previous statement. Kinda hard to launch any kind of attack on something in another star system if you can't get out your own atmosphere.

They and the graysons had agreed to picket it for a generation or two hadnt they? to ensure no more wars between the two?

From that perspective, they can let them out now. Any fleet Masada sends against Grayson will just be target practice for Grayson.

The civil rights of the oppressed majority of the population justifies intervention on the ground.

Many practical methods would be objectionable.

Europeans were masters at destroying native cultures most places they planted their flag. The updated versions - sex, drugs and rock and roll - can work with the drugs limited to beer. Give every preteen and teenager a TV and run all SKM programming. Better yet, maybe, all Erewhonese programing. Best yet, all Beowulf programing.

Soviet and Chinese style - the occupation authority appoints and supervises all clergy.

American liberal style - mandatory gender sensitivity training.

Taking children away from families for placement at mission schools is not practical. But, placing all males in barracks, allowing no fault divorces and only allowing conjugal visits when the wife requests it could go a long way to transforming the culture. It would take a large occupation force to domicile all of the males in barracks.

Yes it would stop fleet attacks, but it woudnt stop black ops from attacking grayson, or the faithful smuggling a nke off planet, then bringing it back from another system to deflect the knowledge of where its coming from, then blowing up the ship in atmosphere. or linking up again with those still disaffected harrington.....

And one point clancy is forgeting is that Manticore and Grayson have the time to let the fanatics die off. They have prolong, they will live several centuries, fanatics will not. We have textev that fanatics consider prolong a clear case deall-with-devil, so logic follows that the only masadans who would accept prolong would be moderates; also remember what the dissatisfied 'wives' did to their 'husbands' after Manties took the planet? So, yes, as a matter of fact, Masada can be waited out to come to some semblance of stable society within the time frame of a single manticoran generation. Oh, there will always be froth-at-the-mouth-fanatics denouncing the changes and trying to fight them tooth and nail, but be fair, aren't there lunatics everywhere?
