"What happened?" Collectively.

Eyes staring into space, still lost, dazed, confused over what just happened. "It looks like an island oasis."

"Because everything is invisible."

"How did all of you escape?

Escape? Nobody escaped. They allowed us to live so we can bring back a message."

"What message?"

The captain of the scouting party ... they'd sent a Captain, the mission was crucial, lowered his head.

"Look at our ships."

They had limped back to Bolthole with nothing left of their ships but the compensator.
