If you have more than 20 people on a call (audio or visual), you really need operator moderation or need to have the majority of users auto muted, or else the meeting will devolve into madness. I found that with calls over 30 users, there is >75% chance that a user will leave their mic open when not speaking, place their call on hold, accidentally turn on their desktop content or camera, etc.

Rule of thumb: if you're going to the restroom, leave your phone or headset on your desk, even if you're sure it's muted. Even if you're just going to wash your hands.

And that is an organic weakness that no amount of meeting or user level configuration will overcome

And last week's revelation that some calls had "inadvertently" been routed through the PRC.

No.

If you are teaching 12 year olds, do you need encryption? planning your restaurant's business during this period? No. Banking Financials or F-35 stealth coatings review - yes.

You use the correct tool for the correct use. This is why companies are still buying hardware based video codecs and their own bridging infrastructure. If you hand it off, you hand off security and system integrity. I just got brought in to design and manage the installation of new video infrastructure and endpoints for a Fortune 500, and this is just as the internal control and connection to Zoom/Skype/Teams. Despite user ease, items like encryption fall into the concern for a large corp, and may keep companies relying on their Skype on-premise environment for security until Microsoft forces them off.

Until very recently, Government contractors with security clearances were still using 30 year old ISDN based video call technologies for security. (video calls at ~$.30 per line/6 lines for just a LOCAL call, gets expensive fast....)
