I just realized there is something I would absolutely shell out a moderate amount of cash to obtain.

Would anyone else buy the plans, output the pieces, then assmeble a 3D printed model of some of the ships in the Honorverse? I mean, we gotta be at LEAST as ship crazy as Trekkers, Star Wars Fans, etc., no?

I'm thinking I need at least... (Builds man cave to display finished models. Complete with said 3D Printer and good ventilation so as to not get high on glue. Or maybe they use lego/duplo- like connectors.)

Pretty cool. Though I want to snap out and glue SOME parts like when I was a kiddo. Maybe have some from different Star Nations, etc.

Now then, needs me a LAC, a Pinnace, a Wayfarer, and a CLAC.

How about some of the SITS game models.

I do like the detail of SITS in the abstract but I'm always hesitant about playing it in practice - it feels like one of those wargames that's gone past the "if you're going to do this much detail you should probably just have done it on a computer" threshold. I admit that's looking at it from the outside, though.

I think I'd prefer something simpler and quicker that would allow me to play, say, Hancock or Nightingale in a realistic timeframe, rather than a two or three ship cruiser duel.

The models do look very nice, though, as do the art prints. The CG pictures of the Star Knight and Sword look really good.

Unfortunately, the game is pretty much dead. You can still get off files of the rules and bits, but the boxes are all gone. These last few minis are all that is left.

I bought a blister of 3 Yeltsin, with the Troubador, Fearless, and Saladin. The model size blew me away. The Saladin is the size of a golf pencil, the Troubador could be a toothpick.

Of course, an SD or big Merchant would be the size of a roll of quarters.

Having tried playing a simple engagement in it, just a few CAs, I'd agree with that.

Even having computer assistance where you could do a lot of the salvo card calculation and passing would have helped and sped things up.

Unfortunately SITS' license for the Honorverse didn't cover computers (someone else had apparently licensed that) so it's a manual simulation that's just too slow and dense for my personal enjoyment - even once you started understanding the mechanics.

There were a couple of computer games I know of, so I understand how license issues can come into play.

i]The Secret Fleet[/i] got released but that seems to be dead, too, though. I've seen references to it but it's not about anymore.

The Honorverse online game is - as far as I can tell - just vapourware that never made it out of (or even into) serious development.

I think I'd have preferred something a lot simpler along the Full Thrust, or even X-wing level; actually being fun to play rather than putting in detail for the sake of it. A game can still be tactically challenging without needing four lookup tables and a calculator, since if you were in a simulator 'for real' it'd obviously be done for you.

For that matter - it's kind of ironic how maths-and-vector-work heavy the game mechanics are when one of the noted characteristics of the main heroine of the series is that she's bloody awful at maths.....

...Also. Did not realise there is an Honorverse RPG. Well, I say "is" - the only thing which seems to exist is the taster adventure and that came out five years ago according to DrivethruRPG.
