Generally, I know it simply varies from person to person, however, I wonder if the difference in one's home gravity well somehow affects the ability to handle downward translations without puking. Honor doesn't toss. Does she even get queasy? She is just one data point I know, but I wonder.
I know I would toss. I get motion sickness quite easily. I can't swing on a swing or I'll get terribly sick. I can't read while mobile in a car or more of the same. Anyone else experience this? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Hi Cthia,
Nitpick: it was THotQ, not OBS where Hamish fired a volley of missiles knowing they would go ballistic long before they got in range of Thunder of God, but hoping it wouldn't notice or change course, while relying on the missile AI's to do their best despite being ballistic. You can't blame HA from saving HH almost 20 years before they got married, the very idea would have shocked him! L [quote="cthia"][quote="Weird Harold"][quote="cthia"] SNIPPED 4 EMPHASIS There isn't much cooperation needed from enemy ships. Except to travel far enough in-system to nullify benefit of hypering out. Apollo can be launced virtually anytime anywhere with a ballistic component. Heck, White Haven did it with a conventional missile that, indirectly, saved his wife to be's ass in On Basilisk Station. SNIPPED 4 BREVITY Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

Hi Chyort,
Yep, apparently 60 missiles was the limit for the Hermes buoy then, but because its been a year [almost 9 subjectively], increasing it's capacity would have been a high priority after the battle, especially by the the new Home Fleet CO, HA-H. So only RFC knows how many potential F/C links new Hermes buoys can handle. ![]() Speculation has argued that the BoMA Hermes could handle only 8 FTL links for 64 attack and ECM missiles and thus not 60, but I forget what RFC posted about that, possibly back at the bar. That much is true like the USS Shark and USS Squalus. Or the various sub species of fish Like USS Hammerhead USS Mako USS Tiger Shark and USS Trout USS Cutthroat |

We know ships take on reaction mass. Does textev state how much mass per class of ship?
Raging battles always result in "We hit her! She's bleeding atmosphere!" But she's never bleeding H2O. What the heck is the water reservoir made of? Has there ever been a case where a ship's reaction thrusters were down because of reaction mass depletion? Exactly what other ship's functions use H2O? Other than the necessities of eating, cooking, drinking, bathing ... Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. It doesn't vent as a liquid but vaporizes when the containment pressure changes to the vacuum of space. Essentially it boils off is how I understood it. Not text wise but implied that ships couldn't do much without it. cooling, heating, breathing… hydroponics? Cthia's father ~ "Son, do not cater to the common belief that a person has to earn respect. That is not true. You should give every person respect right from the start. What a person has to earn is your continued respect!" |

Not quite, but honor did come close to it in Echoes. As I recall, it was later stated in Ashes that the long burn to get into position in front of Hades' sun depleted the reaction mass (which also doubles as reactor fuel) to such a degree that Honor's ships only had a few hours of maneuver time remaining. |

I wonder how Alzheimers would play out with an empathic species? Then project the same question onto the memory singers. A memory singer with Alzheimers? Is that even possible? Would the treecats have an advantage in this area? Interesting. http://www.animalresearch.info/en/medic ... s-disease/ Son, your mother says I have to hang you. ::a Naughty Moose explains::
Seems no one ever warned you about mermaids. They catch swimmers ... and drown them! Naughty Moose, who never enters the ocean without an extra set of antlers, for defense [quote="saber964"]Just a silly little nitpick. With all of the powerful ship names — Triumph, Bismarck, Warlord, Fearless, Tiger, Lion, et cetera, how did a CLAC end up with a name like Mermaid? What the h-e-double hockey sticks is a mermaid doing in the heat of battle? She could get fried. Ensigns: "What ship are you assigned to?" "FEARLESS!" "HAMMERSTRIKE! "WRAITH! "TRIUMPHANT! "OLYMPUS!" "HERO!" "PIRANHA!" "INDEFATIGABLE!" "m-m-mermaid." |
