The treecats don't call Elizabeth Soul of Steel for nothing.

Just a reminder of why, up until Mission of Honor, Queen Elizabeth wanted to destroy the People's Republic of Haven. She had a massive grudge that was allowed to age for years and as they say, revenge is best served cold.
Cup of tea? Yes, please.

Maybe she even technically destroyed it twice. There was the Legislaturalists' People's Republic and then Pierre's People's Republic. If you want to split hairs though I guess you could say that Elizabeth didn't take down President Harris personally but the negative way the war with Manticore was going probably didn't help him maintain control.

Emily talking to her husband Hamish Alexander in War of Honor. I love the description of Hamish in this passage- as a knight who cannot see out of his helmet.

Beleve me, this wasn't lost on me at all.

I can only imagine Emily before the accident.
Talk about an engaging holodramatic personality!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

But at the same time, I think there's a very real probability, not just a possibility, that as soon as OFS and the SLN realize just what sort of sausage machine they've shoved their fingers into, they're going to start screaming for all the help they can get.

"Your time limit has expired, Admiral Byng," she said coldly, without preamble.

"There will be no additional warnings."

Ok, I don't like doing this, posting off-topic, so I'll do it within my own thread.

I have a concern that's nagging at me...no laughing, please.

I listened to David Weber's interview online HonorCon 2013.
Interesting stuff...however, I heard David pronounce Basilisk Station as Ba'-si-lisk instead of how I always pronounced it Ba-si'-lisk. His emphasis on the first syllable instead of my emphasis on the second syllable changes things for me.

My incorrect, yet aggressive pronunciation sounds like more of a military station. His way sounds a bit...tame?

Am I the only one whom was pronouncing it incorrectly?

What another fine thing my lame-brain half-brain got me in.

Baron Grantville gets a nice little one (or maybe two)-liner in SFtS:

So, riddle me this, Mr. Foreign Secretary. If we demonstrate that we can blow the Peeps' Capital Fleet out of space, destroy the entire orbital infrastructure of Eloise Pritchart's capital system, and then tell her we're prepared to blow up however many additional systems it requires for her to see reason, what do you think she'll say?"

This is obviously before Honor gets sent on the diplomatic mission to Haven.

Is it bad that when I got to the end of this sentence, I started hearing Princess Leia's voice replacing "Haven" with "Alderaan"?

...Then adding Darth Vader saying, "You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor! Take her away!"
