...Captain Zemet of the GNS Francis Mueller, to be precise. The story is replete with one-liners – it was difficult to choose only one...

"I don't think that will be necessary, Exec," the captain panted. "Tempting . . . but no. We'll talk about a Captain's Mast tomorrow. For now, I'm going to go to my cabin and change my shorts. Make that a general order."

 Perhaps I was a bit...tempetuous.

I am rereading Admiral Byng's demise and his attitude is quick to anger many. In fact most Solarians make me consume cases of Old Tilman, and I don't even drink!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

"Please, Tester, if you could maybe see clear to keeping the compensator on-line? If we don't have the compensator, we can't make our acceleration back home, and we'll drift in space a derelict, until the systems begin to fail and the power runs out and the air gets foul and we all start eating each other..."

Another gem from "A Ship Called Francis" in The Service of The Sword. The prayers in this story are full of vivid descriptions of all the disasters which might possibly happen to a ship in space.

Also, the moment I forever fell eternally in love with Mike Henke: "All things considered, Her Grace's plan may not have been the single rashest, most foolhardy, do-or-die, all-or-nothing throw of the dice in the history of the Royal Manticoran —- or Grayson -— Navy. If it wasn't, however, I have so far failed to find the plan that was."[/quote]

Why do I get the feeling that Mike just came up with that very plan..that comment might come back to bite her in the ass shortly.

If we are talking about GSN Francis Mueller it's definitely :
He didn't know if it was the reactor alarm or not [...]. He's the captain, and he didn't know. Hah-hah. Hah-hah, hee. Uhn hah, Oh My God . . .

PREPARE FOR A DEMONSTRATION OF HOW TO RIDE A POTATO SACK! PREPARE TO WATCH . . . A PROFESSIONAL!

and of course :
Welcome to Siberia, Corpsman

'Oh, oh' he said in English. Evidently, he had completely mastered that language.

"My God," Theisman said. "They killed King Roger because they expected Elizabeth to be weaker?" He barked a harsh laugh. "Well, that little brainstorm certainly f'ed up!"

A nice little gem from Tom Theisman after Eloise informs him that InSec murdered Elizabeth's father.

Question: How do you abbreviate cursewords in quotes? I wasn't certain if you can use asterisks or not so I cut most of it out even though it is in the text.

I simply employ a hangman type strategy.
i.e. F----- or f#%# or %$#$. Or effed up.

"All right, Bill," she told the communications officer calmly. "Let's see if the next link in their chain of command is prepared to see reason now."

Henke, after blowing Byng to space dust.

And the ship's automatic screen brightness filter was activated by my brilliant show of teeth!
