They collectively ask, "Oh, and who is this?"

"Nobody worth knowing. Goes by the name of and is a real [fill in the blank epithet]."

I can so see it happening. And delivered flawlessly, by none other than the very capable Helga Boltitz, who you just know was biding her time to stick it to Van Scheldt. With her boyfriend, best seat in the house, grinning like a Cheshire cat - having so thoroughly trained her in her more regal social graces.

Unlikely of course that Queen Elizabeth or Queen Berry would attend, but certainly all of the others could be present, and it would be a great time for Gwen to ask Helga to marry him.
Actually more likely at a Governor's Ball, though obviously far enough in the future that the SL and MAlign are dead as doornails so they can't do a thing about it and the Talbott systems are secured. It's the only place where QEIII and Berry would show up at the same time, and Berry only because Helen asked.

As far as I know, this governor doesn't have balls. I mean she has big brass ones, but not the other kind :D

LOL, actually no. But she does have a few fellers available that will do nicely as not only possessors of said-appendages, but also as said appendage breakers whenever necessary.

I hear she's on a first name basis with at least one of them, now that us forum dwellers have decided that the good Admiral and Matsuko should have at least got themselves locked in a luxurious closet at some point for some much needed sack time.

Only in Rose's dreams.

In the next installment, I'd like to see the conflict between the GA and the League continue from the POV of Frontier Fleet officers in command of new ships, new weapons, new shoes and a new attitude.

Enough of the second team. Put first stringers in SLN!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Gotta watch out for the Solarian shoes. Distracted by the Havenite Wars, the SEM and Republic of Haven have no idea what Solarian R&D has done for military footwear. DUN DUN DUN!

So you're waiting for the other shoe to drop?

As a matter of fact, I am John. Guilty as charged. Been hoping to get one more serious skirmish between the SLN and GA before the towel is thrown in. But with better weapons to neutralize, or offset, GA advantage. Just like the Havenites kept upgrading. I don't like for the battles to be so one-sided. I enjoyed it more when tactics, skill and ability, was what pulled your ass out of the fire.

What's that saying that my niece is so fond of? "Necessity is the mother of invention." I guess that makes Foraker a real mother!

So yes John, I'm looking for the other shoe to drop, and the rest of the wardrobe too.

Not is Rose has her way and hooks up Shannon and Sonja - without some serious genetic intervention

Not necessarily. They can still seek the much needed help of a willing surrogate father - like, well, ME!

But who might they want as the donor, and which would bear?
