But in a service not exactly noted for the pristine purity of its language, "the Salamander" was renowned for the fact that she never swore.

From SFtS. I wish my language was even half as clean...

And she rarely raised her voice. She blisters battle steel off the bulkheads of enemy ships. Not her own.

All personal communications aboard Tepes were recorded as yet one more of StateSec's precautionary measures, and it was remotely possible one of the recording techs would actually be listening in and overhear what McKeon was about to say.

More example of how paranoid StateSec was. One couldn't even covertly flirt with a fellow officer. StateSec's paranoia bordered on that of Hitler, who was so worried that the British was going to poison him that he had fifteen different taste testers at one of the bases.

The Basilisk System picket wasn't a duty station—it was exile. Oblivion.

There ya go, fixed it. In other news.

Yet another hit slammed into HMS King Roger III...and the superdreadnought's inertial compensator suddenly failed.
The emergency circuits shut down her impellers almost instantly, but "almost instantly" wasn't good enough for a ship under six hundred and twelve gravities of acceleration.
The ship sustained only moderate structural damage; none of her crew survived.

Goodbye Theodosia Kuzak. Such an abrupt end and, like most of the deaths in the BoM, was almost missed due to the extent of the carnage.

That's not a one-liner! That's cruel and unusual punishment!!

I'd like to see that on the Big Screen.

I know this one has a curse-word in it but it's just so funny and pithy and spot-on...

"Well, that was an interesting cluster#&@%, wasn't it?"

Borrowed from Hutch's 'Honorverse favorite passages' post, because ... it belongs.

White Haven confronting Janacek about the Havenite fleet in Silesia in War of Honor.

"Unfortunately," White Haven said icily, " 'proper channels' seem to be somewhat . . . constricted these days." He smiled again, his eyes cold. "Think of this as the Gordian knot and me as another Alexander, My Lord."

Oooh, burn (and a nice play on words), Hamish! And it makes me really want to get a transcript of the dressing-down he delivered to Janacek all those years ago.

Burn? Now you're sounding like my niece.

I love passages between these two. I always expect fisticuffs, or your much better sounding ... dustup. I get the impression that if they were stranded together, anywhere, one would not survive the experience. Anyways, that's one dustup I'd like to see! ... quick heal ambulance standing by. ;)
