Combing through Beginnings, Call of Duty and Call to Arms, I have found the following about the RMN shiplist:

From CoD:
“I’m sure you know the RMN’s history,” Breakwater said, turning back to Winterfall. “From the four frigates that the Trust, had waiting when the colony ship arrived, it grew to nineteen by the time of the first skirmish with the Free Brotherhood, seventeen years later, then to a total of thirty-four warships over the next forty years.”
“And now here we sit with twenty-eight of the damn things,” Chillon growled. “All of them draining funds from the treasury like giant blood leeches.”

So, as of the Beginning of Call of Duty, the RMN had 28 ships:

9 Triumphant BCs
6 "unnamed class" DDs (an "old" class of RMN DDs - "Protector" was mentioned, do not know if current)
7 Pegasus Corvettes
2 named CAs
1 named CL
3 other ships (FG/CL/CA?)

1 BC was lost (Mars)

As of Call to Arms - the shipcount at the beginning of the book was 27.
19 ships were active - the other 8 were in refit.

Ship losses in First Manticore were:

1 CA (Sphinx)
2 DD (Phoenix and Gorgon)
2 Corvettes (Hercules and Gemini)

Volsung losses

2 BC
1 DD

RFC said "refitting a Beowulfan SD to Manticoran standards would be just as difficult as refitting a standard SLN SD to those standards. In other words, it would be cheaper and faster to build new ships."

I imagine they will start expanding the fleet in response to first Manticore I still hope the Free Brotherhood conflict shows up in a Worlds of Honor someday.

There seems to be a Protector-Class and a Salamander-Class, the former being the older of the two designs. "A Call to Arms" has a sideview of the HMS Guardian DD-03, which is identified in the book as the former type, and "Beginnings" has that schematic of HMS Phoenix DD-08, which is the latter. So using the hull numbers as a guide, the RMN might've had at least eight tincans?

I note that the sideview of HMS Invincible in ACtA differs slightly from the view of HMS Vanguard in ACtD in that it has extra aerials, presumably due to the former being fitted as a flagship?

Mike.

In CtA, they specifically state there are only 6 DDs currently in the fleet. The other 2 must have been in the fleet when the RMN was at it largest after the Free brotherhood, but have since been lost or retired.

The SEM history in House of Steel says Manticore bought a squadron of destroyers around 20 years before the Free Brotherhood showed up.

At which time they had 19 warships. So the 4 Frigates, 7 Pegasus corvettes, and 8 Destroyers.

That's if all 8 Destroyers and all 7 Pegasui were active at the time of course

Edit: Something I thought of. If I remember right one frigate was destroyed in the Free Brotherhood incident. Could the three class unknown vessels possibly be the rest of the original Victory class Frigate group?
